Hi to all of my Well-Wishers and to all of the nice, caring, generous people reading this. Some of you may know parts of my sad,bleak story; a story that could happen to any ferret. I was found wandering the streets of Dallas, Texas. Animal Control contacted TexasFerretLoversRescue and the nice lady who runs the shelter-Millie Sanders- came and picked me up. I was a Pitiful {some said Heartbreaking to look at } sight; as you can well imagine - emaciated, filthy,petrified. I had a prolapsed rectum, large patches of fur missing and what was left was dreadlocks, loaded with earmites, long birdlike claws for nails and a HUGE mass on my tail. The mass was so large that I couldn't lift my tail. Miss Millie rushed me to the vet and they had to amputate all but a tiny stump of my tail.That's why they call me Rabbit. No-one knows what my name used to be before I was left to fend for myself all alone on the streets; nor does anyone know how long I was out there. What they do know is that I am one of the Sweetest, kissingist little ferrets you will ever meet! TFLR has a Sanctuary - FriskyBiznus Ferret Sanctuary- run by Susan Baker. They take in the ferrets that are deemed unadoptable..due to age, illness etc. Susan took me to the sanctuary in hopes of rehabbing me and seeing if I could find my forever home. They cleaned me all up, gave me a Des implant- which is working, and I healed from my tail surgery.I am still trying to heal from the hell that was my life on the streets. Unfortunately, I also have a rather severe issue with my G.I. tract. I go through bouts of throwing up phlegm, inappetance,lethargy. bad teeth grinding, I drop weight that I cannot afford to, and get runny scant poos-when I go at all. Then I seem to get better for a short time but go right back to the same problems. They have taken me to several vets, run all kind of tests and have plied me with lots of different medicines. The vets say maybe I am stressed out. This has gotten to be very expensive and I am blowing through the Sanctuarys $$ and still not getting better. They put me on the Ferret Giving Tree {15} and through donations, I was able to have a Barium Series done. The vet says that I have a large blockage between my stomach and small intestine. Nothing passes and I get sick; then it'll move a bit and I bounce back until the foreignbody moves and closes me up again. I require surgery to remove whatever it is that is trapped in there. The vet says it is expensive and the sanctuary can save other ferrets with the money that they would spend trying to fix me and reccomended that "I be put to Sleep". My sanctuary mom is trying very hard to try and break this thing up so that it will pass and I can have a good quality of life. I am about 5 yrs old and should have a few good years left for a happy ,normal ferret life. This Benefit is to raise funds so that I can have the surgery that will save my life and provide a good quality of life for me. My foster mom thinks I deserve a normal life and I sure hope that you do too. I want to Thank each and every one of you for reading my sad story and for your generous support.
